In response to a university brief in the theme of ‘Voices’, in my case, the lack thereof. My chosen sound “The Story of O.J” highlights the prejudice and stereotypes that continue to be omnipresent in our society.
The Rubber Hose animation style echoes the visuals featured in the music video, in which we are looking back in time and commenting on racial issues in retrospect.
Ironically featuring rubbery, happy characters, this piece speaks on a very serious subject manner. To approach the design sensitively, I broke away from certain animation languages, focusing on hand gestures as a vital, non-verbal, call to action.
